Mediation

Workplace relationships can become complicated and tense. Despite best efforts, disputes may arise.  Mediation facilitates communication between the parties.

Conflict often breeds distrust among the parties.   Through the mediation process, the mediator is able to facilitate bridging that distrust and help the parties make informed and educated choices and consider alternative resolutions in an effort to find resolution.

Mediation provides many benefits to the parties, as well as the organization.   Mediation allows you control.  Through exploring options and hearing opposing views the parties can make the decision on how and when to resolve the issue.  This is in stark contrast to the traditional litigation or arbitration route where a third party will make the final decisions on how and when the dispute is resolved.  With mediation the parties may also find resolution quicker and more cost effectively than allowing the conflict to linger for months or even years. Finally, mediation benefits the parties by providing them flexibility in the outcome, as well as the approach.  In addition to being beneficial financially, this flexibility may prove beneficial to organizational relationships and longevity.

Depending on the conflict, the mediator may opt for a Caucus model, the Understanding Based Approach, or a combination of both.  Utilizing the proper process, parties can express their concerns, underlying interests, and work toward a resolution that can be successful for all involved.
